Every household knows the moment. Someone opens the fridge, reaches for the water bottle and finds it empty. Again. Whoever had the last sip has quietly put it back, and now there’s a wait for cold water on a hot afternoon.

The EVO 2L fridge water bottle was made for exactly that moment. It holds a full two litres, double a standard 1L bottle, so there’s cold water ready when the family needs it. And the refill job comes around half as often.

Made for busy South African homes

With summer on its way, the fridge water bottle is about to become the hardest-working thing in the kitchen. In a family home, a 1L bottle often spends more time at the tap than in the fridge. The 2L changes that: one fill covers the household through the day, not just the next hour.

Here’s how it fits into a normal day:

Morning: fill school and sports bottles straight from the fridge before everyone heads out.

Afternoon: cold water on hand when the kids come home hot and thirsty.

Dinner: on the table with water to spare, no mid-meal trip to the tap.

When the power goes off: a couple of filled 2L bottles in the fridge means the household’s drinking water is sorted, whatever the schedule.

BPA-free, every bottle

The water your family drinks most often deserves a container you can trust. The EVO 2L is made from BPA-free, food-safe plastic, so it’s suitable for daily drinking water. It’s durable too, built to be filled, chilled, washed and filled again, day after day.

1L or 2L: which one do you need?

Think of the 2L as the family workhorse: the household’s daily cold-water supply. The 1L is the table size, lighter to pour and perfect for couples or setting the table. Many homes run both, with the 2L as the reservoir in the fridge and the 1L on the table.

Not just for home

The same practical thinking works in hospitality and catering. The 2L is a simple, affordable way to keep bulk cold water moving:

Conference and boardroom tables

Staff canteens and kitchens

Events and catering service stations

Guesthouses and B&Bs

More water per bottle means fewer refill runs for staff, and a durable bottle means fewer replacements.

Proudly South African, made in Cape Town

EVO is owned by Formtek, a product design and mould manufacturing business in Brackenfell, Cape Town. We design our products, make our own moulds and manufacture everything on site. When you buy an EVO bottle, you’re supporting local manufacturing and local jobs.

Caring for your bottle

A little care keeps your bottle fresh for years:

Wash with warm, soapy water before first use.

Rinse and wash regularly between refills.

Let it air-dry fully before filling it again.

Get yours

The EVO 2L fridge water bottle is now available to shop online.

A well-organised pantry isn’t about aesthetics (although it doesn’t hurt). It’s about wasting less food, spending less money, and always knowing what you have before you shop. With grocery prices doing what they’re doing, decanting your staples into proper airtight dry goods containers is one of the most practical money-saving habits a household can build, fitting, since July is National Savings Month. Here’s how to do it properly.

Why decant at all? The maths of an organised pantry

Staples left in their original paper and soft-plastic packaging lose the battle on three fronts: air and moisture stale them faster, pantry pests like weevils get in through the smallest tear, and half-used packets get buried and re-bought. An airtight container solves all three. If decanting saves your household one binned bag of flour and one duplicate purchase a month, the containers pay for themselves within the year and then keep saving.

What size container for which staple?

A useful rule of thumb: light, powdery staples like flour and maize meal need roughly 1.5–2 litres of container space per kilogram, while denser staples like rice and sugar need closer to 1–1.5 litres per kilogram. In practice:

8L utility container: the pantry anchor. An EVO 8L Utility Dry Goods Container comfortably takes a large bag of maize meal, flour or rice, with room to scoop. One per staple you buy in bulk.

2–4L containers: sugar, pasta, oats, lentils and samp: the staples you buy in standard bags.

Under 1L: stock cubes, spices, seeds, and the half-packets that otherwise migrate to the back of the shelf.

The load-shedding pantry

South African pantries work harder than most. When the power schedule interferes with the fridge and freezer, a well-stocked dry pantry is what keeps dinner on the table and sealed containers are what keep that pantry reliable. Airtight storage protects your no-cook and quick-cook staples (crackers, rusks, instant meals, rice, canned-meal sides) from humidity and pests, so the backup plan is actually edible when you need it.

A weekend pantry reset, step by step

Empty one shelf at a time, doing the whole pantry at once is how resets get abandoned halfway.

Bin anything stale or expired and combine duplicate open packets.

Decant staples into airtight containers, biggest sellers (maize meal, flour, rice) first.

Label every container with the contents and the date you decanted, masking tape and a koki work perfectly.

Practise first in, first out: when you refill a container, use up the older stock on top.

Put everyday staples at eye level and bulk backups lower down, stackable containers make the floor of the pantry usable space.

Built for South African pantries

EVO’s utility and dry goods containers are manufactured in South Africa from durable, BPA-free plastic, designed to stack securely when full and nest when empty. They’re the same containers trusted in hospitality and catering environments, which is exactly the durability you want from something you’ll open every single day.

FAQ: dry goods storage

What container size do I need for a 5kg bag of maize meal?

Around 8 litres. Powdery staples like maize meal and flour need roughly 1.5–2 litres of space per kilogram, plus a little headroom for a scoop.

Do dry goods containers really keep weevils out?

A sealed, airtight container keeps new pests out. To be safe with flour and maize meal, some households freeze the bag for 48 hours before decanting, which deals with any eggs already in the packaging.

How long do staples last in airtight containers?

Considerably longer than in opened original packaging, flour, rice and sugar stay fresh for months when sealed, cool and dry. Label with the decant date and rotate stock so nothing overstays.

Should I wash containers between refills?

Yes, a quick wash and a complete dry before refilling. Any moisture left inside is the fastest way to spoil a fresh bag of flour.

Start with one shelf

The EVO 8L Utility Dry Goods Container is the place to begin, one container, one staple, one tidier shelf. Browse the full Food Containers & Organisers range, proudly South African and BPA-free.

What Does BPA-Free Actually Mean? A Straight Answer for South African Households

“BPA-free” is printed on containers, bottles and lunchboxes across every homeware aisle in the country but ask most shoppers what it means and the honest answer is “something about safer plastic?”. Since every product EVO makes is BPA-free, we thought we’d give you the plain-language version: what BPA is, why it matters, and how to check the containers already in your cupboard.

What is BPA?

BPA: bisphenol A is an industrial chemical that has been used since the 1960s to make certain hard, clear plastics (polycarbonate) and some can linings. The concern is that BPA can leach out of these plastics into food and drink, especially when the plastic is heated, scratched or old. Because of that, food-contact plastics have steadily moved away from BPA, and “BPA-free” became the label that tells you a product is made without it.

What “BPA-free” means on a label

Simply: the plastic used to make that product contains no bisphenol A. Most modern food containers, including the entire EVO range are made from polymers like polypropylene that never contained BPA in the first place. The label matters most for the plastics you heat, seal food in daily, and wash over and over: lunchboxes, storage containers, and anything a child eats from.

How to check the containers you already own

Turn the container over and look for the recycling triangle with a number inside:

Code 5 (PP, polypropylene): the most common food container plastic; does not contain BPA.

Codes 1, 2 and 4: also, BPA-free plastic types, common in bottles and bags.

Code 7 (“other”): the one to check. Code 7 covers mixed plastics including old polycarbonate, which may contain BPA unless the item is explicitly marked BPA-free.

If you have old, scratched, cloudy hard-plastic containers marked 7 with no BPA-free label, particularly hand-me-downs from years back, retiring them from food duty is the sensible call.

Five habits that make any plastic container safer (and last longer)

Only heat containers that are explicitly marked microwave-safe on the base and remove the lid or open the vent.

Don’t pour boiling liquids straight into containers not rated for it; let food cool briefly first.

Skip abrasive scourers, scratches shorten a container’s life and give stains and smells somewhere to live.

Retire containers that are warped, cracked or permanently stained; a compromised seal defeats the point.

Recycle retired containers according to their code rather than binning them.

Where EVO stands

Every EVO product, across food containers, lunch boxes, snack boxes, hospitality and household ranges is manufactured in South Africa from BPA-free polymers. It’s a baseline we hold across the entire range, not a premium tier, because a storage container’s first job is keeping what’s inside exactly as you packed it. Local manufacturing also means full visibility of the materials that go into every product, no guessing about what an imported container is actually made of.

FAQ: BPA and plastic safety

Is BPA-free plastic safe for food?

BPA-free food-grade plastics like polypropylene are widely used and approved for food contact. Follow the product’s care guidance, particularly around heat and any quality BPA-free container will serve you safely for years.

Which plastics contain BPA?

Mainly older polycarbonate plastics, usually marked with recycling code 7 and no BPA-free label. Codes 1, 2, 4 and 5 are BPA-free plastic types.

Should I throw away my old plastic containers?

Not necessarily all of them but retire anything marked code 7 without a BPA-free label, and anything scratched, warped or cloudy, regardless of type. Recycle them by their code.

Are all EVO containers BPA-free?

Yes. The entire EVO range is manufactured from BPA-free polymers, made locally in South Africa.

Shop with confidence

Explore the full EVO range at https://www.evosolutions.co.za/shop/ , BPA-free across every category, proudly South African, and available at selected retailers.

If you’ve ever pulled a jersey off an adult-sized hanger and found the shoulders stretched into little peaks, you already know why kiddies hangers exist. Children’s clothes are built for smaller shoulders and they need hangers to match.

At EVO Lifestyle Solutions, we make kiddies hangers right here in South Africa, sized for little garments and built for the daily reality of a family cupboard. Here’s what to look for when you’re shopping for kids hangers, and why so many South African households are switching their little ones’ wardrobes over to EVO.

Why kiddies hangers, and not just standard adult ones?

It’s a fair question, a hanger is a hanger, right? Not quite.

Standard adult hangers are usually around 42 to 45cm wide, built for grown-up shirts and blouses. Children’s clothing is a whole different scale. When you pop a toddler’s t-shirt onto an adult hanger, the shoulder seams sit halfway down the sleeve, which stretches the neckline, distorts the shoulder, and shortens the life of clothes your child will probably outgrow before they wear out anyway.

Kiddies hangers solve three problems at once:

They preserve the shape of small garments, so tops still look sharp after weeks in the cupboard.

They save cupboard space, a rail of narrow kids hangers fits far more outfits than the same rail full of adult ones.

They make it easier for kids to hang up their own clothes as they grow into that habit, because everything is at the right scale for little hands.

If you’re organising a nursery, a toddler’s cupboard, or a big kid’s wardrobe, kiddies hangers are one of those quiet upgrades you only appreciate once you’ve made the switch.

What makes EVO kiddies hangers different

South African parents have a few options when it comes to buying kids hangers. What sets EVO apart is where and how they’re made.

Proudly South African, locally manufactured. EVO kiddies hangers are made right here in South Africa, in our own factory. That means when you buy EVO, you’re supporting local manufacturing jobs and you’re getting a product built to a standard we stand behind.

Sized for kids’ clothes. Each EVO kiddies hanger measures 33cm across (L33 x W18 x H7cm), the right width for children’s tops, dresses, jerseys and jackets from toddler through to primary-school age. Small enough not to stretch shoulders, wide enough to properly support the garment.

Sold in a practical 10-pack. Because let’s be honest: nobody’s kid’s cupboard needs one hanger. The EVO 10-pack is designed to kit out a full drawer’s worth of hanging space in one purchase.

Durable, everyday plastic. Built to survive the reality of family life: pulled off rails, dropped, stepped on, packed into moving boxes and pulled out again. These are hangers designed to still be in service when your little one has grown out of the clothes that were hanging on them.

How many kiddies hangers do you actually need?

A rough guide for a typical child’s cupboard:

Newborn to 12 months: 15 to 20 hangers (though at this age, most items are folded, not hung — sleepsuits, cardigans and christening outfits are the main candidates)

Toddler (1 to 3 years): 20 to 30 hangers, as more structured clothes start entering rotation

Big kids (4 to 10): 30 to 40 hangers, especially once school uniforms, party outfits and jerseys need their own dedicated space

Two or three packs of EVO kiddies hangers will comfortably kit out most children’s cupboards from scratch, with a few spares tucked into the linen cupboard for when guests bring extras.

The spring cupboard clean-out: a good excuse to start fresh

There’s no better time to rethink your child’s wardrobe organisation than the seasonal changeover. As winter jerseys get packed away and lighter tops come out, it’s the perfect moment to audit what’s still fitting, what’s being handed down, and critically, what’s hanging on the wrong kind of hanger.

If you’re pulling out mismatched, adult-sized or broken hangers you inherited from somewhere along the way, a fresh 10-pack of proudly SA-made kiddies hangers is a small change that makes daily life a little easier.

Frequently asked questions about kiddies hangers

What size are EVO kiddies hangers?
EVO kiddies hangers measure L33 x W18 x H7cm, a size specifically designed for children’s clothing from toddler through primary-school age.

How many kiddies hangers come in a pack?
EVO kiddies hangers are sold in packs of 10.

Are EVO kiddies hangers made in South Africa?
Yes. EVO products are proudly South African, manufactured locally by Formtek (Pty) Ltd.

What are kiddies hangers used for?
Kiddies hangers are designed for children’s clothing, tops, dresses, jerseys, jackets and school uniforms. Their smaller width prevents stretched shoulders and stretched-out necklines on little garments.

Where can I buy EVO kiddies hangers in South Africa?
EVO kiddies hangers are stocked by selected retailers around the country. Use our stockist finder to locate your nearest store.

Find EVO kiddies hangers near you

Small hangers. Big difference. Find your nearest EVO stockist and give your little one’s cupboard the upgrade it’s been waiting for.

Ask any parent packing a school lunchbox, or any office worker rummaging through their handbag at 3pm, the right snack container makes all the difference. Whether it’s grapes for little hands, biltong for the drive home, or yoghurt and granola for the meeting that ran over lunch, snacks need to travel well, seal properly, and keep their shape.

That is exactly what our EVO snack containers were built for. Available in four handy sizes: 80ml, 120ml, 150ml and 250ml. They slot into lunchboxes, laptop bags, gym bags and glove compartments without spilling, squashing or leaking.

Why the right snack container matters

A good snack container does more than just hold food. It protects your snack from getting crushed at the bottom of a bag, keeps it fresh from morning until snack time, and does its job day after day without falling apart. Our EVO snack containers are:

Airtight — the seal keeps food fresh from packing to eating

BPA-free — made from food-safe polymers, so they are safe for everyday use with the whole family

Stackable and space-saving — designed to nest and stack in your cupboard, fridge and lunchbox

Durable — built to handle the daily lunchbox routine

Proudly South African — locally manufactured, right here in Mzansi

The EVO snack container range: a size for every snack

Our snack container range comes in four sizes, each designed for a specific job. Here is how to match the size to the snack.

the pocket-sized snack saver (80ml)

Perfect for: nuts, raisins, sunflower seeds, a handful of Jelly Tots for after school, salad dressings, sauces, hummus, or a small portion of peanut butter for the kids’ apple slices.

The 80ml is the size that quietly saves the day. Small enough to slip into any bag, blazer pocket or lunchbox corner, but big enough to hold a proper snack portion. Parents love it for portion control, and adults love it for keeping dressings and dips separate from the main meal.

the biltong and dried fruit hero (120ml)

Perfect for: biltong strips, dried mango, popcorn, olives, cherry tomatoes, or a portion of trail mix for the mid-morning meeting.

This is the go-to size for the classic South African road trip padkos, or a satisfying office snack that isn’t the whole packet. It also happens to be exactly the right size for a portion of provitas and cheese, or a bit of chakalaka to go with tomorrow’s lunch.

the “actually satisfying” snack size (150ml)

Perfect for: grapes, cheese cubes and crackers, cut strawberries, chocolate squares, or a small portion of leftover pasta.

When 120ml isn’t quite enough and 250ml feels like overkill, the 150ml is the one you reach for. It is the sweet spot between “quick nibble” and “small meal”, the container size most families end up using every single day.

The mini meal container (250ml)

Perfect for: yoghurt and granola, fruit salad, overnight oats, chopped veggies and dip, or a proper serving of last night’s supper turned into tomorrow’s lunch.

The 250ml turns a snack into a small meal, which makes it ideal for older kids, teens and adults who need more than a nibble to get through the day. It also earns its keep in the office fridge, where a proper portion of fruit salad or leftovers beats another vending machine run every time.

Built for real South African households

Every EVO snack container is manufactured right here in South Africa from BPA-free, food-safe polymers. That means peace of mind for parents packing school lunches, professionals packing work snacks, and anyone who wants a container they can trust for daily food use. The stackable, nesting design also means they are kind to your cupboard space, no more toppling towers of mismatched containers.

Tips for packing smarter snacks

Getting the most out of your EVO snack containers is easier than you think. A few small habits go a long way:

Match the container to the appetite. An 80ml for the littles, a 250ml for a growing teen, the right size means less waste and no half-eaten snacks going soggy in a too-big container.

Prep snacks in bulk on a Sunday. Portion out nuts, dried fruit, cut veggies and cheese into your EVO containers so the whole week’s lunchboxes come together in minutes.

Keep a couple of empty containers in the car. Perfect for spontaneous snack stops, farm stall treats, or portioning out biltong for a long drive.

Mix and match sizes in one lunchbox. A 150ml for cut fruit, an 80ml for the dip, a 250ml for the sandwich sides, one lunchbox, three neat compartments, no soggy sarmies.

Wash and reuse. Reusable snack containers are better for your grocery budget and better for the planet than single-use packaging.

Which EVO snack container is your favourite?
